Falcon moves to a whole new level of spreading accuracy and consistency with the latest ZA-M profiS Hydro spreader from Amazone

The current cost of fertiliser makes it imperative that it is spread accurately in a manner that will result in optimum utilisation of what is now one of the most expensive inputs in crop farming, or indeed any form of agriculture.  A fully equipped Amazone spreader provides the ultimate weapon in the fight against rising input costs.

New features on the Amazone ZA-M profiS Hydro ensure that the operator has precise control over spreading at all times. These include the following: -

  • The ZA-M profiS has a hydraulic drive to the spreading discs, which means that the twin discs automatically revolve at a constant speed to provide a consistent spread width, regardless of engine and PTO speed, unlike conventional spreaders where the spreading pattern varies with the engine and PTO speed.
  • Accurate control of the spread rate relevant to the forward speed, via the AMATRON+ on board computer, means that the distribution is constant over the length of the field.
  • A precise weighing system enables the operator to constantly check the amount spread and the quantity remaining in the hopper. The on-board weighing system obviates the need for calibration.
  • A standard ZA-M machine has a capacity of 1 500 litres and extensions are available to increase the  capacity up to 3 000 litres
  • The spreading mechanism incorporates Amazone’s unique soft ballistic system, which means there is no damage to the fertiliser granules
  • Spread width is adjustable and part-width control means that double overlapping can be avoided.
  • The spread pattern can be adjusted, from the tractor seat, for border and one-side spreading.  The automated control system also allows for accurate spreading on irregular shaped fields.  (e.g. 6-section part width shut-off control)
  • The unit is compatible with most GPS systems and the AMATRON+ on-board computer has an integrated serial interface that can adjust the spread rate to match varying requirements dictated by a yield map so as to ensure that all the fertiliser is spread at optimum rates to match the varying soil requirements in different areas of the field.
  • It is also possible to set the unit so that the fertiliser flow is automatically switched on at a different position when entering the land to that where it is switched off when leaving the land to allow for the fan type spread pattern behind the tractor and produce a regular headland width.  (GPS-Switch)
  • Amazone spreaders can handle fertiliser, seeds and slug pellets.

The advanced technology employed by the new Amazone spreader can lead to savings in fertiliser costs or an improvement in yields of the order of more than 10%.  Considering that the annual fertiliser bill for a farm growing 450 ha of cereals will currently be more than R2 000 000, a saving of less than 10% would be more than enough to purchase outright an Amazone ZA-M profiS  Hydro unit that would be capable of accurately fertilising the whole crop for many years.
